Laura Dekker Around The World - Society - EzineMark

We all know Magellan to be the first person to have gone round the earth and discovered the fact that the earth was round. Thereafter there were many who did the same and solidified the belief that the world accepted it as a reality that the globe is actually round. Later the scientific researches by great scholars proved the fact. Here comes another person in the list of the people to have traveled the circumference of the globe, it is Laura Dekker, a Dutch teenager who has been successful in completing her journey of sailing around the world and proved that nothing is impossible.

It is on the 23rd of January 2012 that she got over with her journey of five hundred eighteen (518) days. Once she docked her yacht, Guppy, that marked the end of her expedition that lasted for a year long. This adventurous event of hers has declared her as the youngest person on this earth to have travelled around the world alone, though there were certain interruptions in between of the journey but yet her determination and zeal did not stop her from completing her extraordinary journey.

Laura Dekker had to face several jurisdictions from the moment she declared this wish of hers of going around the world.

She was 14 then. Laura told that the government organizations tried their level best to discourage her and make her change her mind of fulfilling that unusual wish. And this might stop her from going back to her home in Netherlands. The authorities claimed the fact that she was very young to go for that mammoth journey. It could raise a lot of risk to her life. She went on to do this brave act when she should have actually been at school and attended classes and read all her lessons.
